About the Technologies
Studying the Technologies equips students to design, create, use and evaluate innovative solutions that meet current and future needs using a range of technologies. Students learn to make decisions about the design, development and use of technologies and to consider the impacts of technological change.
In the Victorian Curriculum F–10, the Technologies learning area includes the Design and Technologies curriculum area and the Digital Technologies curriculum area.
Design and Technologies
In Design and Technologies, students use design thinking and technologies to investigate, generate, produce and evaluate solutions. They also use strategies to plan and manage their work. They examine and investigate the impact of technologies on society, including ethical considerations such as sustainability.
Digital Technologies
In Digital Technologies, students use computational thinking, design thinking, systems thinking and information systems to analyse, design, develop and evaluate digital solutions for solving problems and meeting current and future needs.
